Benefits of sport and physical activity for the disabled

This is a video about how people with dis-capacities can do anything if they want.

"If I can do this, I can do anything!"

Psychological gains include:
               - An improvement of mood-state:
               - Reduction of anxiety and depression
               - An increase of self-esteem and feelings of greater self-efficacy.
Sociological gains include:
               - new experiences
               - new friendships
               - countering of stigmatization.
Perceived health is improved, and in a more long-term perspective there is a reduced risk of many chronic diseases. There is a greater likelihood of employment too, with less absenteeism and enhanced productivity. Both the health and the industrial benefits have a potential to yield cost savings that could make an important contribution toward the expense of suitably adapted physical activity programmes. It is concluded that the physically disabled should be encouraged to engage in physical activity, although further large-scale longitudinal studies are needed to determine the optimal type of programme for such individuals.

  1. I admire people with dis-capacities or disabilities because they don't give up and make an amazing work, they look so strong because we get sad with small dumb things and they stay high without giving up, that's admirable how they fall and stand up again, not in all cases of course. The power they have to show the rest of the world that "I lose their leg but I still can reach the top of a mountain without help". That's the way it has to be, we don't have to give up, we have to try, try, try and the results may come by itself.

  2. I really liked this video, and I’m agree with Cristina; it is so beautiful how this boy had a problem but he didn’t let it became an obstacle in his life; he learnt to live with it and now he can do things that persons without problems can’t even think about doing it.
This persons that have discapacities and still doing what they like are really strong; I think if I had one leg less or a problem like that; I will go down and became depressed; so I really admire the dedication that this people puts in something that they want to do.
I think we all should be like them; like Cristina said, although we have problems, we can’t give up; we need to stand up when we fall, and if we can’t do something, if we put dedication on it and try and try, we will be successful.

  3. I'm agree with the video that Cristina post, because those people that do exercise with his dis-capacities must do double effort to do sport and they must have a good physical fitness for do that sport that they do.
For example, in basketball they must go with wheelchair to one part to the other of the field and the basket have the same height than the professional basket and with the wheelchair they should arrive the basket with the ball and it is very awesome.
So, I think this video is very right and very awesome for all the people that have a dis-capacity for overcoming
